    Last night ...

Me and the missus were coming home from town on the metro and a woman got on. I never noticed but she was shaking like a leaf and trying to use her phone but couldn't for shaking. My girlfriend thought she was having a panic attack and told me to go and see if she was ok. I approached her and asked her and she screamed in my face at the top of her voice as if she'd seen a ghost

She had bruising and a lump on the forehead, she had bite marks on her nose, her neck looked like she had been strangled and she was holding her ribs in total agony. I presumed right away that she had been assaulted at the metro station. I got her to sit next to my burd as she looked far too frightened of me till she realised I was with a woman.

We got off at her stop with her and I asked her If I could phone the police. She wouldn't let me and started explaining what had happened.

Her ex boyfriend had been beating her for quite a long time. She got rid of him from her flat and she has got restraining orders the lot out on him. He has been arrested several times but spent a max of 1 or 2 nights in the nick. He came to her house the night before last full of drugs and drink and beat her all night till about 9 in the morning. It raised a few issues to me that really upset me to the point of anger. She was a fucking mess.

She phoned her Dad who was an ex chief of police - a Glaswegian who reminded me of a bigger built Taggart. He was totally unaware of the abuse she had been getting but I made him aware of how frightened his daughter was and that he needed to have a long talk with her.

The woman changed immediately when her Dad arrived in to an almost wee girl and seemed to not be as scared. The whole incident really shocked me as to the level of abuse some people go through and put up with. It also angers me how the police deal with such incidents. These bastards are the scum of the earth and need some of there own medicine, I hope Taggart deals out some retribution.

What also angers me is how her neighbours can lie in bed at night hearing this woman scream without getting up of there lazy arses and either phoning the police or doing something about it. She was dragged up her street by the hair and all her neighbour did was turn the light of and shut the blinds. I don't understand this.

Men that beat woman are SO fucking low, I seen the result of it last night and it sickens me. Anyway rant over, had to get that off my chest.

    I can understand your anger.

Is it not a sign of the times that people turn a blind eye. If it's nothing to do with them they don't give a fuck :(

Sadly, this goes for our so called "police" these days as well. They only turn and get invloved if someone has been killed.

Blunket was bangin on at the Labour Conference yesterday about how there is now record numbers of Police - yet crime is still on the increase, especially gun related and violent crime - so what are all these new Officers of the law doing, why are they unable to hault this shocking state of affairs...? :(

Same here - I've never seen someone so scared yet think she sort of deserves it and there was no way out for her.

thats exactly what gets me, its exploitation at its worse... bruises and cuts heal but the emotional carnage that accompanies relationships like this is sickening.

violent crime like this is a massive concern. it affects everyone in their daily life.

what are cops doin? sitting on the A19 with their little van with radars sticking out of the back windows, with 2 cop bikes and a couple of volvo T5's waiting at the services to pull u over.

(in my defence b4 i'm set about and attacked, i would like to point out that i know road traffic police are in the decline so that means there may be less coppers sitting on bridges and slip roads. it just means the few that are left are sitting in easy places to catch speeders to make sure their statistics are high, instead of watching out for other types of road violations. i would also like to point out that i know nothing about actual police deployment and this could be completely fabricated. i suddenly feel the need to add this to the bottom of all posts, as i'm a bit scared of bigger boys shouting at me.)

because the police make money out of speeding tickets... they don't make money out of domestic violence.

Hence the whole mobile phone £1000 fine nonsense.

I'd like someone to explain why using hands free set and say for example tuning the radio whilst driving is any less dangerous than using a mobile. You don't get a £1000 fine for that.

Or even talking to people in the passenger seat whilst fixing your mirror. Is it any more distracting than a mobile??

It's all about paying for Iraq - knobbers!
