I see it more as a background issue rather than a skin colour issue I guess. For example, one of the most hideous things I have ever seen was Victoria Aitken trying to rap. Not because she was white, but because her accent just didn't fit. Plus she was completely crap. I agree about Busted too - you're English for god's sake, where does the American accent come from? Having said that, regional accents often disappear when people sing. For example, a lot of Scottish people sound English, such as Sharleen Spiteri.
