Its better to stock up when you're there than get ripped off by normal prices. 20 l&B cost £4.03p atm in kwiksave altough that wont last much longer

labour has been really saving money in the last few years by posting civil servants to newcastle, living in top rate hotels (malmaison) for years on end including full food, paying for BA flights from heathrow to newcastle twice a week and airport taxis as well as taxis to and from longbenton to the hotel every day... on top of this add £40 per night 'pocket money' usually spent taking said hotels staff out on the piss...

all this cost for something the civil servants in question openly admit could be done by a bunch of 'geordie monkeys'...

    new labour

    £40 pocket money?!?!?!

Come off it mate they're not kids - they're employees... If they're getting £40 it will be coming out of their wages!

What are you basing this off? It sounds a little far fetched.

    from working there...

i was paraphrasing, £40 a night expenses, taken from a credit/debit card which we reguarly abused from the pitcher and piano cash machine...

the hotel food constitued breakfast the rest was taken out of that £40 so depending on where they ate it left them with about £25 pounds a night... there was 2 at the mal and one at gosforth park - they had the choice of where they where put up...

apparently the civil service is very keen on 'posting' people and external contracters...

one of my mates boyfriends was put up in a hotel in liverpool for 6 months last year - he was working for whichever office it is in durham... all payed up+cushty... the job could have been done by anyone at a similar level down there he reckons...

makes me wonder where all your taxes are going!

because britaints industry is worth £30 billion... a 1p increase would be about £1.5 billion - I'd say its worth the rise.

Scruf, whats the alterntive - we let the torys take us into yet another recession...
